South Sudan President Salva Kiir Mayardit has this evening constituted a committee to initiate dialogue with the Sudanese government on the final status of the Abyei Administrative Area, a disputed region between Sudan and South Sudan.
Kiir appointed the 10 member committee in a presidential decree read on Monday evening on national television.
The committee to be led by the Presidential Advisor on Security Affairs Tut Galuak and deputized by South Sudan s minister of East African Affairs Deng Alor Kuol will include three members of the revitalized national legislature and four other SPLM cadres, among them Assa Abas Akuei, Dr. Luka Monoja, Deng Biong Mijak, Majur Babur Ajang, James Deng Lual, and Kom Kom Geng.
