For the second year in a row, Fisk University is leaving its mark as one of the top 10 best HBCU's in the country.
The University president says the goal is to be number one.
Fisk University has named Dr. John D. Jones as both provost and vice president for academic affairs, effective June 1.
Jones, who brings more than 25 years of experience in higher education, currently serves as associate vice president for academic affairs and as dean of graduate studies at Alabama A&M University, according to a release. He previously worked as provost and vice president for academic affairs at Lincoln University Missouri and as associate vice chancellor of academic affairs at Keiser University. Jones has held similar positions at Mississippi Valley State University and at Fort Valley State University.
It is unclear whom Jones replaces.
