Silesia to join Kraków and Małopolska in staging 2023 European Games Silesia is to help organise the 2023 European Games and athletics poised to be added to the programme after the European Olympic Committees (EOC) held talks with officials from the region. Silesia is to join Kraków and the Małopolska region in staging the Games, although any hosting agreement has yet to be officially confirmed. The 55,000-capacity Silesian Stadium is being lined up to host track and field events and Andrzej Krasnicki, President of the Polish Olympic Committee (PKOI), said he was “hopeful” of including athletics on the programme in the “near future”. ....
EOC EXCO Announces Postponement of General Assembly 03/15/21 The Executive Committee (ExCo) of the European Olympic Committees (EOC) met online yesterday for the third time of 2021, with discussions centring on the postponement of the 50th General Assembly, which will now take place on 10-11 June 2021 in Athens, Greece. Having closely monitored the COVID-19 situation over the last weeks, the decision to postpone was made to provide delegates with the option to travel to the Greek capital for this important occasion. The 50th General Assembly, originally scheduled for 16-17 April, is an important one for the EOC and will see the election of a President and Executive Committee among other statutory measures. POLISH SUPPORT FOR EUROPEAN GAMES 2023 GROWS WITH SILESIA REGION TO ASSIST WITH ORGANISATION 03/09/21 The Polish region of Silesia has added its support to the 3rd edition of the European Games 2023 and will join Krakow and the Region of Malopolska in organising the Games. The official announcement comes after an EOC delegation travelled to Poland for a four-day visit over the weekend. The trip involved meetings with the Polish Government, the Polish Olympic Committee, the organising cities and the Polish Tourism Organisation, as well as visits to a number of facilities. EOC Acting President Niels Nygaard led the EOC delegation and praised the steady progress that has been made since the last meeting between the parties in Rome in September 2020. ....
