The Election Tribunal has issued notices to Water Resources Minister Faisal Vawda and the Election Commission of Pakistan in a case challenging the PTI MNA s nomination for Senate elections.
In a hearing on Monday, the tribunal summoned responses from the parties by Tuesday, February 23.
On February 20, Advocate Qadir Khan Mandokhail challenged the returning officer’s decision to approve Vawda’s nomination papers. He told the court that the leader hid the truth about his US citizenship and he doesn’t deserve to hold any public post. ISLAMABAD: The PTI s parliamentary board has decided to stick with its earlier decision of nominating MNA Faisal Vawda as its candidate for the upcoming Senate elections from Sindh, rejecting protests by the party s provincial leadership.

Geo News that the decision was taken during a meeting of the parliamentary board chaired by Prime Minister Imran Khan. Protests by workers who had earlier took a stand against Vawda s candidacy were rejected, according to sources.  ....

ISLAMABAD:
The ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf faced criticism from party cadres over awarding of Senate tickets due to which it failed to finalise the list of candidates despite Monday being the last day for the submission of nomination papers with the ECP.
Taking notice of the matter, Prime Minister Imran Khan convened an emergency meeting of the parliamentary committee on Monday.
During the meeting, Premier Imran hinted at a change in tickets and said they “will be given on merit”. ....
