This week in history: Harding made the Ancient City his headquarters

A Look Back in Time: March 4, 1921 – Sheridan Media

Now here’s Sheridan Media’s look back in time, to 100 years ago, by reporter Pat Blair as published in the Sheridan Enterprise newspaper on March 4, 1921. The Sheridan Enterprise will cover every phase of the inauguration of President-elect Harding and the retirement of President Wilson, which takes place tomorrow in Washington, in a special edition of the Enterprise tomorrow. Conservation of Sheridan’s health has prompted City Commissioner O. F. Svanberg to take the initiative in preparing petitions that ask the Sheridan City Council to create street sprinkling districts. A special session of the City Council, called for yesterday, was adjourned until 10 o’clock this morning. The session is for consideration of bids for construction of a bridge across Big Goose creek at Eighth street and for the supply of 500 water meters to the city.

Looking back in Lemoore

50 Years Ago Tuesday morning at 5:59 a.m. the tragic earthquake hit southern California with devastating results in many parts of the Southland. While Lemoore is located near a spur of the San Andreas Fault and has not experienced an important quake sine the one centered in Bakersfield in 1952, there were scattered reports that many local residents were awakened with no more than minor concern. Lemoore police received one complaint soon after six that some plane had broken the sound barrier again and rocked his home. Now that six Americans have walked on the moon, it may be interesting to compare transportation advances during the past few centuries – especially those which opened new worlds.
