กว๊านพะเยา.ทะเลสาบน้ำจืดใหญ่ที่สุดในภาคเหนือมีพื้นที่มากถึง 12,831 ไร่ จึงเป็นพื้นที่แก้มลิงสำคัญ ด้วยแต่ละปีมีปริมาณน้ำไหลลงกว๊านพะเยา 330 ล้าน ลบ.ม. แต่สามารถเก็บกักน้ำได้เพียง 33.84 ล้าน ลบ.ม. หรือแค่เพียง 10% เท่านั้นเอง
