University of Tennessee board OKs tuition increases, budget June 25, 2021 GMT MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) The University of Tennessee Board of Trustees on Friday approved tuition increases at two campuses and finalized its operating budget for the upcoming fiscal year. The board met in person for the first time since February 2020, the university said in a news release. The new $2.7 billion budget for fiscal year 2021-22 will increase 8% from the year before. It includes salary plan increase and funding for full campus operations following the COVID-19 outbreak. Meanwhile, the board approved a 2% increase in tuition and mandatory fees at UT Chattanooga, or about $176 more for students enrolled prior to fall 2019. The board also approved a 1.7% increase in tuition and mandatory fees at UT Martin, or about $164 additional for students. ....

An issue has recently been brought to our attention that in early December of 2020, Randy Boyd, President of the University of Tennessee, partnered with Texas A&M University to bid on the management and operations contract for the Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, and the Pantex Plant in Amarillo, Texas. If successful in receiving the bid, this contract would make our university a manufacturer of the nuclear weapons of mass destruction declared illegal under international law by the United Nations Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons. ....
