It’s not always easy to ask for help especially when it comes to mental health. Finding the right counselor, getting an appointment, paying for care and added stigma can be overwhelming. And for people with jobs like firefighters, EMTs or police officers, that stigma can be debilitating.
People in Charlotte expect to receive immediate help in an emergency when calling 911, but some are met with long wait times. In a life-threatening situation, a few minutes can make all the difference.

The NBA halted its season, Tom Hanks announced he had the coronavirus and the World Health Organization officially declared a pandemic. At the time, we never could have imagined what the next year had in store but Channel 9 felt it was important to not only reflect back, but look ahead.
