Odisha: Man held in Puri for running fake Covid test lab | Bhubaneswar News

BHUBANESWAR: The Puri district police on Friday arrested a science graduate for allegedly running an unauthorised Covid testing centre-cum-laboratory in Kakatpur area. The accused was identified as Prakash Dash (36).
Police sealed Dash’s fake laboratory and seized some kits that he had procured to conduct rapid antigen test (RAT). Dash is a laboratory technician and did his diploma in lab management, the police said. He had been running the fake Covid testing laboratory for the last few weeks. Police said Dash cheated people on the pretext of conducting rapid antigen test. He was charging Rs 400 for each test. ....

BHUBANESWAR: Puri district police on Friday arrested a BSc graduate for allegedly running an unauthorised Covid testing centre-cum-laboratory in Kakatpur area.
The accused was identified as Prakash Dash (36).
Police sealed the fake laboratory and seized some RAT testing kits. Dash is a laboratory technician and did his diploma in lab management. He had been running the fake Covid testing laboratory for the last few weeks.
Police suspected Dash cheated several people on the pretext of conducting their RT-PCR and rapid antigen test.
“He has been cheating people by writing false and forged prescription. He also wrote that the patients were being referred to his laboratory by a government doctor, working in a community health centre (CHC) at Kakatpur. After getting information, we promptly raided his laboratory and arrested him. Suspected involvement of some other accused is being examined,” Puri SP, Kanwar Vishal said. ....

BHUBANESWAR: The Covishield vaccine consignment, which arrived here on Tuesday afternoon, were taken to the state vaccine store under police cover. A police van escorted the three vehicles that carried the vaccine from the airport to the vaccine store in front of Ram Mandir on Janpath.
“We have posted armed security guards at the state vaccine store. There will be round-the-clock vigil,” DCP (Bhubaneswar) Umashankar Dash said.
The state police headquarters has directed everyone concerned to ensure foolproof security for the vaccines during their transportation to the districts. “We have asked deputy commissioners of police (Bhubaneswar and Cuttack) and the SPs to coordinate with the district administrations and chief district medical officers for compliance with security-related matters during transport and storage of vaccines,” additional director general of police (law and order) Yashwant Jethwa told TOI. ....
