Celebrated flute player, writer, and singer Prabhat Sarma passed away at 85 on Tuesday. He is survived by his wife, three daughters, and grandchildren.
Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, while expressing his grief, stated that it is irretrievable damage to the cultural field of the state of Assam.
Many political parties and associations likewise mourned the demise of the foremost musician.
Prabhat Sarma has received numerous honors, including the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 2003 for his commitment to folk and traditional music of Assam.
He had an assortment of musical instruments, few are currently outdated, constructed a mini-museum, and later gave his life to the ambiguous instruments by performing orchestras with them. Sarma has also joined many movies as a music director and composed background music for many TV serials and stage plays. ....
