Hardesty s comments came right before the City Council voted 4-1 to hire two new city staffers in the Office of Community and Civic Life to provide services to Southwest Portland s 17 neighborhood associations. The neighborhood associations were previously served by a district coalition Southwest Neighborhoods Inc. but Hardesty announced two weeks prior that the coalition would no longer receive any city grant funds and she would move to have neighborhood groups serviced directly by the city instead of the independent nonprofit group. ....

David Douglas cancels school Wednesday; others will resume Amid widespread power outages, school districts and colleges canceled distance learning classes UPDATE: David Douglas School District announced Tuesday evening, Feb. 16 that classes will be canceled Wednesday, Feb. 17 for the second day in a row. School districts in Portland canceled classes Tuesday due to power outages throughout the region. With power restored to some households Tuesday, Portland Public Schools and Parkrose School District both announced distance learning would resume Wednesday, Feb. 17. Parkrose will offer meal services, but PPS warned meal service will be impacted by power outages. Home deliveries 2 hours late, and pickup sites at Arleta, Bridger, Whitman & Woodmere closed, the district tweeted Tuesday. ....
