Longniddry and neighbouring Aberlady saw 17 cases recorded in the first week of April. However, the most up-to-date figures for East Lothian as a whole saw just three positive Covid tests recorded in a week. Despite the sharp fall in cases, which is so low that community breakdown is not currently being provided by Public Health Scotland, East Lothian Council said that mobile testing units would be deployed across the county for a further four weeks. And the local authority said that Longniddry would be added to the list of places the units would visit. The mobile units are being used to help identify people in communities who may have Covid-19 but show no symptoms, to try and break chains of transmission.
