so, you know, when we noticed this and we looked at our dash board in miami dade and we realized that only 30% of african-american population in miami dade is vaccinated, we felt that as a union who fights for people and working conditions and just standards of living, we had to do something about it. it has to be more than thoughts and prayers. so we were fortunate enough to get in contact with the emergency manager of miami dade county. he offered to do a popup vaccination site. so we were really focussed on underserved communities. we had it yesterday. we did organizing, we had a decent turnout for a popup site that just happened. honestly we did it because we know that in order to honor these educators, that if they were alive they would be educating the community and telling them to get vaccinated.
