RESIDENTS have revealed how they have become ‘trapped’ in their own homes since electrical works began on Blandford Road in Poole. The works mean a three-week closure of Blandford Road between Rigler Road and Ashmore Avenue - something residents say is a ‘nightmare’. Gridlock on the diversion route to Upton led to the whole of Hamworthy being full of traffic during the first day of the works. MOTORISTS are set to experience a “nightmare” as roadworks on a 320-metre stretch of main road will lead to a six-mile diversion. Blandford Road will be closed in both directions between Rigler Road and Ashmore Avenue due to mains cable works by Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN), from today until Saturday, July 24. The closure means there will be no direct access between Poole town centre and Hamworthy across either the Twin Sails Bridge or Poole Lifting Bridge. There will a further one-way closure between Blandford Close and Tucker’s Lane from Monday, July 26, to Friday, August 20, with north west access towards Upton only. ....
