Photograph by Medlock Photography On Remembrance Day last year, a huge display of bottle base poppies, made by the community was attached to netting and adorned the face of Pontefract Town Hall. The community initiative began when Pontefract Civic Society issued a call for members of the community to paint and decorate plastic poppies to be put on display. The same display was re-erected on Sunday morning, to honour VE day 2021. Although it was not a ceremony, Royal British Legion members joined Pontefract Civic Society and their decoration squad, as the display was set up.
