Massachusetts has eased restrictions for the state s 400 nursing homes due to the increased number of vaccinations and low infection rates. The change means people like Helen Robbins can visit their children and grandchildren on Mother s Day. ....
HESSCO to partner with Mick Morgan’s for annual 5K Community Content HESSCO Elder Services in Sharon is once again partnering with Mick Morgan’s Irish Pub for the ninth annual Mick Morgan’s St. Patrick’s 5K for HESSCO on March 14. This is HESSCO’s largest fundraiser and coincides with the national March for Meals Campaign which mobilizes hundreds of local Meals on Wheels programs across the country to reach out to their communities and build support, an opportunity to shed light on HESSCO’s Nutrition Program. With the assistance of nearly 700 volunteers, HESSCO packages and delivers an average of 135,000 home delivered meals each year and serves an additional 35,000 meals annually in dining room settings. Volunteer drivers not only deliver a hot, nutritious meal, but they provide a wellness check and a friendly visit. For many, this is the difference needed to maintain their dignity and independence at home. ....
Country Gazette WRENTHAM It didn’t take any convincing for certified nursing assistants Kerry Nastasia and Samantha Salvas to raise their hands to roll up their sleeves and receive the first COVID vaccine administered at Pond Home in Wrentham. With staff cheering them on, the mother and daughter took the highly anticipated shot in the arm on Jan. 5. They received the Pfizer vaccine administered by Walgreens, which Pond Home partnered with for three vaccination clinics. “It’s just the right thing to do,” said to Nastasia, a sentiment echoed by daughter Salvas. Nastasia, a CNA for 25 years and with Pond Home for the past four, said “we all want to put an end to this virus and this is how to do it,” noting that social media may be undermining the importance of the vaccine. ....
