Attendance Restrictions Removed From State Track Meet
The Iowa high school state track meet is open for business. The Cedar Rapids Gazette reports that as of Tuesday morning, the attendance limitations had been removed for this week s state championships.
The three day track meet at Drake Stadium in Des Moines will be open to all spectators, canceling the seating restrictions that were put in place back on May 4th. At that time, each participant was limited to just two spectators. The change in rules came after considerations from the
Polk County Department of Public Health.
High school athletic officials were thrilled at the news saying the changes will allow high school students to compete in front of friends, families, and classmates from across the state of Iowa. They also lauded Drake s willingness to re-evaluate the situation since the initial restrictions were put in place. Tickets for all six session went on sale yesterday at noon.
