House passes drinks-to-go bill, orders another round for the Senate
Ordering drinks to go could become permanent.

The House has passed its version of a bill to permanently enshrine the pandemic-inspired drinks-to-go bill, kicking the legislation back to the Senate.
By a nearly unanimous vote, the House approved the measure (
SB 148). But because members amended it on Tuesday to include parts of Rep. 
Josie Tomkow‘s bill, the bill must go back to the Senate in the hopes of its final legislative approval.

Jennifer Bradley, a Fleming Island Republican, and Tomkow, a Polk City Republican, have argued it is likely that the economic and cultural changes caused by the pandemic could foster long-term, even permanent, changes in how restaurants do business. ....

Florida officials plan to close former Piney Point fertilizer plant


To fund those efforts, DeSantis announced that $15.4 million of existing DEP appropriations will be used in the short-term to pay for innovative technologies to pretreat wastewater at the site for nutrients to minimize any adverse environmental impacts of any future discharges, if they are necessary. Florida Senate President Wilton Simpson said that the Legislature also is pushing forward plans to appropriate $100 million this year for DEP s effort.
I believe this year we are going to appropriate $100 million for the initial funding, and by the end of the year we hope to get a full closure plan with a fully funded amount that may be required, Simpson said.  The object would be to come back next year and have a fully-funded plan. ....
