hello and welcome to our viewers joining us here in the united states and all around the world. you re watching cnn newsroom. and i m rosemary church. just ahead, the u.s. house passes a debt ceiling bill. but there s zero chance it will get through the senate. we ll look at what, if anything, is up for negotiation when it comes to budget cuts. plus, thousands of civilians are caught in the middle of a deadly conflict in sudan. many desperate to leave the country for their safety. we ll look at that. and later, the lawmakers, business leaders and celebrities who gathered at the white house for a state dinner honoring the south korean president. good to have you with us. republicans in the u.s. house have passed a bill to raise the national debt limit and cut spending. they say it will put the country on the path of fiscal responsibility and avoid an economic catastrophe. but democrats are not onboard. they want a stand-alone bill that lets the u.s. pay its debt out spen
facing a new terrorism case that would result in him remaining for decades behind bars. navalny is accused in a separate extremism case and was in court on wednesday for that hearing. fred polite ken has more on this. reporter: as alexei navalny speaks by a video link, his sound is abruptly cut off. it looks like they will limit the time through the court documents he was able to say, then the audio is muted. while some were chuckling, the situation for alexei navalny has become more serious. the court ruled navalny has ten days to review hundreds of documents from an extremism case against him. and his supporters say, navalny has learned he will be charged with terrorism. now, alexei will have two large trials, his spokeswoman treated. first on extremism, most likely,
fewer than the losses on the ukrainian side. another thing we also saw on the front line is there seemed to be quite a few russian military vehicles on the russian side that were actually broken down and needed to be towed. it s really unclear whether or not that s sort of the common attrition you would have in an operation this size with obviously tracked vehicles, for instance driving on asphalt roads and some of the trucks that we saw broken down were older as well. it certainly is something that did stand out. a lot of russian forces still going in and out of that battle zone. and some of the trucks that we saw coming out of the kharkiv, the battlefield area, the drivers of those trucks hung their flak vests into the windows so the bulletproof vests they normally wear on their bodies, that could be an indication they were taking sniper fire or were afraid of sniper fire. but of course from our vantage point, it was impossible to say that with certainty. fred polite ken, cnn, belgor

and he has company, in moscow. our fred polite ken explains. reporter: the statement this russia meddled in the 2016 election. that allegation deserves the attention of every american. reporter: despite the mueller report s clear findings, moscow continues denying attacking the u.s. democracy. blasting and mocking the special counsel. a senior member saying, mueller failed to put the blame on russia, as well as to prove russia s connections to trump. now, he is trying to justify himself in front of those who have placed serious hopes in him. we have a lot of questions. reporter: moscow claims it was anti-trump democrats that pushed the mueller probe. and that was trump s messaging
