Volunteer trauma supporters sought for new partnership between Long Beach Police and TIP


The Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) is pleased to announce our partnership in collaboration with the Trauma Intervention Program (TIP) to bring their much-needed services to our Long Beach community.
TIP was founded in 1985 and has 15 affiliates serving over 250 cities across the nation. In each affiliate, local volunteers are trained to respond to traumatic incidents within the City at the request of Police, Fire and Hospital personnel to provide emotional aid and practical support to victims of traumatic events and their families in the first few hours following a tragedy.
“When a crime occurs, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of the victims has always been a priority for our department,” said Chief of Police Robert G. Luna. “We understand the critical importance of having people specially trained to provide emotional support to those who have been traumatized. Long Beach police arrest suspects in murder at 1400 block of St. Louis Avenue


On Jan. 7-8, 2021, the Long Beach Police Department arrested 4 suspects in connection with the Dec. 16, 2020 shooting death of 14-year-old Long Beach resident Arthur Touch.
Through their investigation, detectives uncovered evidence indicating that a dispute took place between the victim and the four suspects. The dispute escalated to a physical assault which led to the victim being shot prior to the suspects fleeing the scene.
“Any loss of life due to violence is unacceptable, but the murder of a 14-year-old should be an outrage to our entire community,” stated Chief of Police Robert G. Luna. “I want to thank our Special Investigations Division detectives for their relentless efforts to identify and arrest the suspects responsible for this senseless crime.” ....
