Mysterious motel shooting leaves woman dead Written by Geoffrey Plant on June 4, 2021 A woman is dead and a man was treated for a gunshot wound at Gila Regional Medical Center following a shooting incident at the Silver City Motel 6 on U.S. 180 on Wednesday afternoon. The Silver City Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division is investigating the incident as a homicide, according to Police Chief Fred Portillo, who identified the injured man as 29-year-old Nickolas Choeipo, and the deceased female as 30-year-old Codi Rhodes, both from Arizona. No charges have been filed in connection with the incident, which at least one person in the room at the time said was an accident.
