Christ Embassy s Pneumatica Night : 4 charged for breaching COVID-19 protocol

Four people have been charged for violating restrictions on public gathering and organising the Christ Embassy s ‘Pneumatica Night’ event which saw over 10,000 people attending with majority of them not wearing any face coverings to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. Three of them are members of the Christ Embassy Church. The fourth person is the one who manages the Fantasy Dome facility at the Trade Fair Centre. They are said to have breached COVID-19 protocols by organising the Pneumatic Night event for the Christ Embassy church during which over 10,000 people gathered in breach of the ban on mass gathering as part of efforts to help prevent the spread of the disease.

Christ Embassy s Pneumatica Night At Fantasy Dome | General News

The Events and Meetings Professionals Association of Ghana (EMPAG) has noted with grave concern a video on YouTube of an event held at the Fantasy Dome in Accra on Friday, April 30 2021, following which the Fantasy Dome has been closed down temporarily by the city and national authorities. The event, which was called ‘Pneumatica Night 2021’, was organised by the Christ Embassy Youth Church, Airport City. The video ostensibly shows thousands of people in the Fantasy Dome with no social distancing and minimal mask-wearing in total disregard for the COVID19 safety protocols stipulated for public events. EMPAG would like to state categorically that it does not condone the flagrant disregard and flouting of COVID-19 protocols as stipulated by the government. While we commend the Ghana Police for the swift action it has taken to investigate the matter, we entreat all our members and all event organizers and venue owners to adhere strictly to the COVID19 protocols and guidelines

OccupyGhana® has watched with shock, a video on YouTube (now pulled down) of a religious event held in Accra from Friday, 30 April 2021, dubbed ‘Pneumatica Night 2021,’ and organised by the Christ Embassy Youth Church, Airport City, which event packed thousands of adherents into the air-conditioned tent called Fantasy Dome, with minimal mask wearing and absolutely no social distancing. We are not opposed to the holding of religious events. But we need no reminders that the dangerous and murderous COVID-19 is still present and active with us. That is why the government has imposed protocols by law, which demand compliance, even by churches; and our local churches have largely been exemplar in this regard. On the contrary, we are seeing the colossal human disaster that is unfolding in India, caused largely by unrestrained political activities and religious events that did not respect COVID-19 protocols.
