PM Modi to interact with CMs on Thursday over COVID situation, vaccination drive
Amid a surge in coronavirus cases, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will interact with chief ministers on Thursday to discuss the COVID-19 situation and the ongoing vaccination drive, sources said Monday.
Modi s last interaction with chief ministers was on March 17 during which he had expressed concern over the rise in COVID-19 cases in parts of the country and called for quick and decisive steps to check the emerging second peak .
Sources said the meeting would take place on April 8 from 6:30 PM.
Ahead of the PM s interaction with chief ministers, Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan will on Tuesday hold a meeting with health ministers of 11 states and Union Territories, which have been witnessing a surge in coronavirus cases, to review the situation there. ....

Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted that her mother has taken the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine today.
In his tweet, he also urged everyone to help and motivate eligible people to get inoculated.
Happy to share that my mother has taken the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine today. I urge everyone to help and motivate people around you who are eligible to take the vaccine, PM Modi tweeted.
The Prime Minister did not elaborate details on which vaccine 99-year-old Heera Ben had been administered. India has been administering two vaccines - Bharat Biotech s Covaxin and Oxford-AstraZeneca s Covishield, developed by the Serum Institute of India. ....

PUDUCHERRY: “Are you using a thicker needle? Politicians are usually thick-skinned,” PM Modi joked with nurse P Niveda who administered Covaxin to him at AIIMS, New Delhi, on Monday, reports Bosco Dominique.
The 28-year-old from Puducherry said the Prime Minister praised her saying he did not feel the jab. “The PM wished us and asked where we were from. The moment I said I am from Puducherry he said ‘Vanakkam’,” said Niveda, who did her nursing degree from Jipmer in Puducherry, where her father is an ambulance driver.
