A Ugandan startup, Jalule is among the top twenty (20) startups that have emerged as winners of the AfricavsVirus Challenge selected by the African Development Bank (AfDB). They will receive a grant of up to USD$20,000 (approx. UGX72.9 million) as well as access to business development and other in-kind services.
The top 20 winners including Jalule were announced at a virtual event held on Friday last week having been shortlisted from hundreds of applicants who pitched ideas for innovative solutions to the health and economic challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic. The 20 were chosen according to the relevance and impact of each solution, proposed implementation and the qualifications of team members. ....

HealthPlus Limited has petitioned the Nigeria Police Force on an alleged assault of its Chief Executive Officer, Mrs. George by a person simply identified as Mr. Chidi Okoro, whom they accused of carting away some of the company’s documents.
The “Petition to the Nigeria Police Force on Assault of Employees and Unauthorised Movement of Company Documents by Mr. Chidi Okoro” was signed by HealthPlus’ Head, Legal, Tolu Oni and sent to the Assistant Inspector General of Police, the Nigeria Police Force, Zone 2, Onikan Lagos, Attention: AIG Ahmed Iliyasu PSC(+).
Giving details of what led to them seeking the help of the police, the petitioner said, “At about 5:15pm on Monday, 14 December 2020, myself and the CEO, Mrs. George had just returned to our office from an external meeting. We approached the main entrance to the office floor at 11B, Victoria Arobieke Street, Lekki, Lagos but the door was locked from inside. ....
