March 5, 1961: Six candidates have filed for the two upcoming vacancies on the Plainview City Council. Candidates for the April 4 election are George L. Taylor, Alvin Stokes (both seeking re-election), Ben Bridges, Perry Stanton, Floyd Lamb and Joseph R. Stubblefield.
Hale County farmers interested in growing sugar beets met with Frank Kemp, president of great Western Sugar Company of Denver, which is considering a possible expansion into the area.
