The couple belongs to Vanakbara Koli Gnati Samaj RAJKOT: A young couple in Veraval has been allegedly ostracised by its community for tying nuptial knot without seeking permission from community leaders. Piyush Baraiya, 27, had married to Minaxi in April last year. Their marriage was registered next month with Randhiya gram panchayat of Amreli district. The couple which belongs to Vanakbara Koli Gnati Samaj says it is going through an ordeal since then. Its common in the fishermen community that such ostracised families cannot do fishing and have social transactions with other community members, the couple said. Nine different sub communities under the umbrella of Koli community are engaged in fishing in Amreli. In order to get married, the community members have to get ‘lagan chithi’ (marriage permission) from the community leaders. ....
