Short span of time. Even after reopening the roadway more than 4 hours later,we saw Little Pockets of smoke and a firefighter here and there, manning the field. A brush fire on San Bruno Mountain quickly spread more than 40 acres sending plumes of smoke into the sky. The deputy fire chief says it started along the hillside corridor and in minutes, went from a one alarm to a 4 alarm blaze hot, dry conditions plus the steep terrain thats out there, it moved pretty fast moving from the initial fire. Reporter one neighbor captured the smoke as it filled the streets. It was also visible miles away. Heres video from a viewer that was driving on the 101.
