US JV targets wind, solar and storage

Amber Infrastructure Group and Circle Power have set up a clean power joint venture called Circle Power Renewables focused on solar, wind and battery projects in Michigan and other US power markets.
Circle Power Renewables is an expansion of Amber s existing joint venture with the principals of Circle Power.
Scotia Wind, the joint venture s first project, is a 60MW wind farm in Michigan s Upper Peninsula that recently secured long-term power purchase agreements with Upper Peninsular Power Company.
The JV also recently secured development rights to the Groveland Mine Solar and 7 Mile Pit Solar projects through a solicitation run by Michigan s Department of Natural Resources. ....

An area of East Windsor will soon be home to the largest solar farm in New England.
Connecticut will soon become home to what developers call the largest solar farm in all of New England.
Hundreds of acres in East Windsor, including land that has been a gravel pit, are planned to be used for a massive project.
Much of a 485-acre swath of farms, quarries, and other properties will be covered with solar panels in the near future.
“This is homegrown energy right here in Connecticut, said Aaron Svedlow, of the site s developer, Gravel Pit Solar. New England has been a little bit behind in some of the utility scale development we see these size projects in the Midwest fairly routinely.” ....

Siting Council gives East Windsor solar farm green light

The state Siting Council on Thursday unanimously granted approval for construction of Gravel Pit Solar, a 485-acre solar farm slated to become the largest of its kind in the Northeast.
The approval marks the final significant hurdle for the project’s developers, D.E Shaw Renewable Investments, or DESRI, and North Light Energy. They anticipate construction to begin this summer with the bulk of it occurring in 2022, Aaron Svedlow, director of development for Gravel Pit Solar, said.
“We are very pleased with the Siting Council’s unanimous decision to approve Gravel Pit Solar’s certificate,” Svedlow said. “Gravel Pit Solar is an exciting project that will provide significant benefits to the town of East Windsor, the state of Connecticut and the New England region.” ....
