Pinson Council recognizes Kristina Allred as Teen Library Board Champion

PINSON The June 3, 2021, Pinson City Council meeting started off by recognizing Pinson Public Library’s very first Teen Library Board Champion, Kristina Allred.

“A little bit about the Teen Library Board (TAB), it’s a collection of 6th-12th graders who help the library by volunteering …,” library director Allison Scanlan said. “We’ve had several wonderful members over the years, but 2021 is the first year that we’ve had a graduating, active participant on TAB. Pinson Council approves $95,000 grant for CPFD training facility

PINSON The Pinson City Council voted on Thursday, May 6, to approve a $95,000 grant to the Center Point Fire District for the construction of a new fire training facility. The cities of Center Point and Clay have also given $95,000 grants toward the project, which will benefit not only these three communities but multiple fire districts throughout the state.
“It’s not about (Center Point Fire District); it’s about multiple jurisdictions,” Capt. Chris Horn said. “Even the chief from Glenwood, he reached out to us and also found us a grant that we applied for; we have not received it yet.” ....

Pinson Council discusses new trash removal services, Second Amendment Resolution

PINSON Pinson Mayor Joe Cochran gave an update concerning the city’s new trash removal contract during the regularly scheduled Pinson City Council meeting Thursday, April 15, 2021. The city held a special-called meeting on April 8 where the council accepted bids and awarded the city’s residential trash contract to Waste Management Services.
“We do have a contract in place,” Cochran said. “We’ve had no pushback from the contractor, which is Advanced Disposal, owned by Waste Management. We feel confident that we’re going to have better service moving forward over the next three years. There’s some automation being put into place, not only with the trucks having automated boom arms to collect the trash, but also with automated mapping systems to help make sure that they don’t miss a pickup.” ....
