Defence ministers are to discuss the second pillar of the pact that commits members to developing deterrents against China, the Financial Times reports
The seven mandatory private pension funds in Romania, known as Pillar II, generated an annual average yield of 18.2% in the last 12 months (between October 2023 and October 2022), for the 8 million Romanian participants, way above the inflation rate of 8.07% during this interval.
The draft pension law which was adopted on Tuesday by the Senate plenary and which was submitted to the Chamber of Deputies - the decision-making body regarding this normative act - is disputed by the National Trade Union Bloc (BNS) and the National Federation of Romanian Pensioners (FNPR), its members the latter threatening protests across the country.
