New hotel and other upgrades in the pipeline for Sun City resort
Sun International’s management has devised a plan to expand Sun City in order to boost tourism to the resort and the region.
At a recent meeting between management from Sun International – the owner of the Sun City resort – and provincial officials from the North West province, it was revealed that future plans for the complex located in the North West Province, include a new hotel.

Regarded as one of South Africa’s premier leisure resorts, Sun City took a major knock in 2020, as a result of the extended national lockdown which placed restrictions on travel between provinces and the prohibition of events and meetings. ....

Premier Mokgoro met virtually with the MEC for the Department of Arts, Culture, Sports and Recreation Galebekwe Tlhapi, as well as the Acting Head of Economic Development, Environment, Conservation and Tourism Department Sarah Manone.

Representatives from the Presidency and National Department of Tourism joined the discussions as well, to look at ways in which to “expand the resort and improve the infrastructure”.
The delegation hopes that it would “unlock the maximum tourism boom” for the region, as the Sun City Resort is regarded as one of South Africa’s key tourism destinations “during and beyond the COVID-19 pandemic”. ....
