On Saturday, January 16 at 10 pm, KUVO’s performance series “On Stage” features Denver blueswoman Erica Brown!
Her bona-fides include sharing the stage with B.B. King, Al Green, Delbert McClinton, Big Head Todd and more! In 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2016, Erica won the “Best Blues Singer-Female” Award from the Colorado Blues Society’s Members’ Choice Competition. Her soundtrack credits, collaborations and awards are many, including placing in the 2013 International Blues Challenge with Dan’ Treanor’s Afrosippi Band. Erica was dubbed “Denver’s Queen of the Blues” by the Altitude Network in their concert showcase feature.
We held on to a performance from 2004 at KUVO that blew us away, Erica’s band was hot and the audience caught fire, too! The session was so good one of the tracks made it to a “Live at the Oasis” CD. ....

On December 21, 2015, Andy O’ was at KUVO studios putting together his show the Nightside with Andy O’ a special surprise occasion was in the offing.
Some on air hosts and members of Coyote Poets of the Universe were going to visit and perform holiday poetry live from
Studio Flo for an impromptu holiday special. It was supposed to be live poetry but acoustic guitars and flutes were pulled out and Christmas magic happened live on The Nightside.
The following year the first
“Nightside Before Christmas” elaborated on the previous year’s concept of holiday jazz and poetry. The next few year’s an audience and more performers were added as the show and broadcasted from The Phyllis A Greer Performance Studio. ....

It’s as swinging a pair of sessions as you’ll ever hear, produced as they were broadcast LIVE in KUVO’s Phyllis A. Greer Performance Studio.
For some keyboardists, one row of keys isn’t enough. They need two! And foot pedals! These are organists, and their rich, full palette of sounds have driven jazz combos since before the days of Jimmy Smith.
At KUVO’s Phyllis A. Greer Performance Studio, we arranged to have a classic Hammond B-3 brought in with a Leslie speaker. The results were magical in the hands of the Joey DeFrancesco Trio from 2001, accompanied by Paul Bollenback on guitar and Byron Landham on drums. ....
