Buffalo City Metro has appointed its former CFO, Vincent Pillay, to a new top job just four years after it sacked him for his involvement in the Nelson Mandela funeral funds scandal.Pillay was suspended by the city in 2018 and fired in early 2019 after a municipal disciplinary hearing.
The accused allegedly swindled the Buffalo City Metro in the guise of using the funds for the late former President Nelson Mandela s funeral and memorial in December 2013.
The Mandela fraud case dating back to December 2013 finally kicked off on Tuesday in the Bhisho High Court with the testimony of former Eastern Cape premier Noxolo Kiviet.
