In the two months since the February 20 community outbreak of Covid-19, the government has suspended the operation of several markets and businesses and placed some villages in lockdown in Phnom Penh and the provinces.
So far, 35 markets have been shut down in Phnom Penh, Kandal, Preah Sihanouk, Kampong Chhnang, Battambang and Kampong Speu provinces.

Two markets in Phnom Penh – Phsar Thom Tuol Sangke, also known as Samhan market, in Russey Keo district and Boeung Trabek Plaza in Chamkarmon district – have been ordered shut for 14 days from April 19 to May 2 after vendors there tested positive for Covid-19.
Russey Keo district governor Chea Pisey said that over the last few days, vendors and residents around the areas had contracted Covid-19. The virus had spread quickly and to an alarming degree, which prompted restrictive measures to be urgently put in place to contain it. ....
