Americans feel about where things are heading, and that s where i want to go with you next. there are certainly growing warnings that the nation may be heading into recession. later this year or next. what s your sense of that? what kind of impact will that have? well, i think none of us want to see a recession. and i think it s really important right now, that we be looking at policies that try to head that off. and unemployment is at one of the lowest levels ever. i believe if you follow this, still one of the best of the american academy, and what is happening there is impacting well, i mean it does impact what s going to happen on the recession, i m hoping that we can all work together, and get some policies in place, that will try to head off that recession that some say could be there, and that s something that none of us, if you re a democrat or a republican, should want right now for our economy. congresswoman, one last for you, no one uses the phrase
Two technically. the president s lengthy news conference, the white house s scramble to clean up a few of his comments on the legitimacy of 2022 and russia. the new numbers from our nbc news poll, though, all point to the same predicament facing this administration, after 365 days in office the president is now having to try to regain his long-time political identity. his job approval stands at just 43%, it s the second worst of in i president in modern history at the one-year mark except for one, donald trump. the numbers are stark, the public doesn t believe that president biden has lived up to the promise of the biden presidency to candle covid, unite country, to in a phrase build back better. his approval ratings on the pandemic and the economy have fallen dramatically since the opening days of his presidency. far more voters are giving him low marks on his blt a to unite the country than when he first took office. and just 5% say his presidency has been better than expected. that
The president, there s economic numbers but psychology out there. no offense to the president but not a lot of couples sitting around the breakfast table saying, did you check the bls? did they revise up the job numbers last month? but americans do know this. the price of gas. the current price of gas $3.42 a gallon. it dropped. the president tapped the strategic petroleum reserves. it did go down for a little bit. now it s back up again. the president was candid saying there s still a lot of frustration, pain and stress on american families out there. it s february in election year. his big hope has to be that the fed helps him, other supply chain issues help, the pandemic eases and that number gets better. it s also, he was making the pitch for build back better without actually using the phrase build back better. because that is essentially dead. so he was really, i think, tailoring what he was saying to people like manchin. what can actually pass? something around prescription dr
