Swedish bio-printing pioneer says it will gain a âleg upâ on competition with cash-plus-stock deal worth up to â¬50M.
Nanoscribe, the spin-out from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) that developed two-photon polymerization tools to make tiny, intricate structures, is set to become part of the fast-growing Swedish life sciences firm Cellink.
The two firms have agreed a cash-plus-stock deal that will see Cellink pay an initial â¬34 million for Nanoscribe, plus up to an additional â¬16 million in earn-outs if financial targets are met.
Assuming that the acquisition proceeds as expected, Nanoscribe will join forces with several other recent purchases made by Cellink, as the firm looks to build a portfolio of cutting-edge technologies that it believes will revolutionize biology and healthcare.

UK-based maker of augmented reality waveguides based on diffraction gratings to become part of Snap Inc., the software firm behind popular Snapchat app.
Snap Inc., the NYSE-listed software company behind photo messaging app Snapchat, is to acquire UK-based WaveOptics in a deal reportedly worth more than $500Â million.
WaveOptics, which won a second consecutive Photonics Prism Award earlier this year, makes optical waveguides for augmented reality (AR) hardware. The optics technology features in Snap s latest generation of âSpectaclesâ AR glasses, which are aimed at content creators rather than consumers.
The deal marks Snapâs first foray into manufacturing, as the Santa Monica firm has - until now - outsourced production of its own AR glasses to various partners.
