Kansas reported a rise of over 5,800 COVID-19 cases Friday

Kansas saw a rise of 5,857 COVID-19 cases since Wednesday, the Kansas Department of Health and Environment reported Friday.
Friday s totals push the state past the 200,000-case mark since the virus arrived in Kansas in March.
The state reported an increase of 88 deaths in that time frame, although most of the deaths appear to have occurred earlier in the pandemic.
There also were 125 new hospitalizations reported, although KDHE Secretary Lee Norman said Friday that hospitals in the state s core urban areas have reported their capacity issues are beginning to ease.
I hope that continues into the holidays, as everyone wants a bit of downtime, Norman said on a conference call. ....
