There are several updates on the criminal case against WWE star Sonya Deville s alleged stalker Phillip A. Thomas.
On 5/14, Judge Barbara Twine Thomas issued a five page ruling that Thomas was incompetent to stand criminal trial based on the results of a court-ordered medical examination. Due to that mental health evaluation, Thomas was “hereby committed to the Department of Children and Families to be placed in a mental health treatment facility” pursuant to local Florida statutes.
In her ruling, Thomas noted:
The Defendant is manifestly incapable of surviving alone or with the help of willing and responsible family or friends, including available alternative services, and, without treatment, the Defendant is likely to suffer from neglect or to refuse to care for himself/herself, and such neglect or refusal poses a real and present threat of substantive harm to the Defendant s well-being; or, there is a substantial likelihood that

As previously reported, Phillip A. Thomas had a competency hearing this week. Thomas is facing life in prison on multiple charges after attempting to kidnap Daria Berenato, a.k.a. Sonya Deville, at her home on August 16, 2020.
Wrestling Inc. has learned that Thomas has been found incompetent to stand trial. He is awaiting transfer to Florida State Hospital in Chattahoochee, Florida.
As noted, Deville had her temporary protection injunction against Thomas extended last week. The next protection hearing is October 7th at 9 a.m.
Thomas was charged with Aggravated Stalking, Armed Burglary of a Dwelling, Attempted Armed Kidnapping, and Criminal Mischief. Depositions for the case started in February.
The man accused of stalking and attempting to kidnap Daria Berenato (Sonya Deville) was found not competent to stand trial.
Wrestling Inc reported that following medical evaluations by doctors at a competency hearing, Phillip A. Thomas was found not mentally competent to stand trial. He will be transferred to Florida State Hospital in Chattahoochee, Florida.
Thomas was charged with aggravated stalking, armed burglary of a dwelling, attempted armed kidnapping, and criminal mischief after breaking into and entering Berenato’s home on August 16, 2020. Both Berenato and Amanda Saccomanno (Mandy Rose) managed to escape following the break-in.
Depositions for the trial started this past February. Berenato recently had her protection injunction against Thomas extended, with the next hearing set for October 7.
