Bigger brothers reel in biggest catch of the day, win tournament

BRIMLEY Only 10 fish were hauled in and weighed by 22 different teams representing several law enforcement agencies as a part of Monday’s 19th annual “Bay of Pigs” tournament/fundraiser on Brimley Bay.
“It was a very slow tournament this year,” said Phillip Donnay of the Sault Ste Marie Police Department, organizer of the event. “(This was) the biggest tournament but the fishing was horrible. We caught bullhead and a lot of other fish, but no walleye. Looking forward to next year.” 
Bruce and Ernie Bigger ran away with the tournament by totaling four fish weighing at 13.4 pounds. Bruce is a retired police officer from St. Ignace. The brothers took home $700 for placing first and an additional $100 for netting the day’s biggest fish, topping the scale at 4.68 pounds. The Biggers are no strangers to victory as they took first place in the Bay of Pigs tournament in years ....

No suspects or leads in spray paint vandalisms in Sault

SAULT STE. MARIE The Sault Ste. Marie Police Department is investigating a series of spray paint crimes that occurred late last week. 
According to Phillip Donnay, a detective with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Department investigating this case, three locations were hit with red spray paint: The Sault News building on Arlington, the building across the street from Phat Boutique, next to The Final Touch hair salon, on Ashmun Street and the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians building on Ashmun Street as well. 
All spray painted messages were related to COVID-19. According to Donnay, a similar crime happened in April with the same style. ....
