Filipina missing in Abu Dhabi since March 2020 found dead


Abu Dhabi: A 30-year old Filipina expat, who has been reportedly missing since March 24 last year has been found dead, the Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi confirmed on Monday.
“The Embassy of the Philippines expressed deep sadness and extended condolences to the family of Ms. Mary Anne Daynolo, whose dead body has been found by UAE police authorities last 19 January 2021. Her remains arrived in Manila on 30 January 2021,” the Philippine mission said in a statement sent to Gulf News on Monday night.
The Philippine Embassy added: “According to Abu Dhabi police authorities, a suspect, who is Ms. Daynolo’s work colleague, has confessed to the crime and is now under police custody.” ....

MANILA – President Rodrigo Duterte will do everything in his authority to give justice to an overseas Filipino worker (OFW) who was found dead in her workplace in Abu Dhabi, Malacañang said Monday.
Reports showed that the remains of Mary Anne Daynolo, 30, were finally repatriated on Sunday, several days after a suspect reportedly admitted killing her on March 4, 2020 after she went missing in a resort where she worked as a receptionist.
“Ang pangako po ng Presidente mabibigyan po ng hustisya at katarungan ang pagkamatay ng ating kababayang si Mary Ann Daynolo (The President has vowed to give justice over the death of our citizen Mary Ann Daynolo),” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said in a Palace press briefing. ....

Daynolo’s remains were finally repatriated yesterday, January 30, 2021, several days after a suspect reportedly admitted killing her on the same day that she went missing at the St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort in Abu Dhabi where she worked as a receptionist.
After interrogation by the UAE police, the suspect reportedly led the authorities to an area within the vicinity of the hotel where the remains of the OFW was exhumed.
“We’ve heard about this development since last week but it was only yesterday that we were able to confirm it (Last week pa namin nalaman, kahapon lang na-confirm,” one of Daynolo’s close relatives said in a text message. ....
