The independent Member of Parliament elect (MP) for the Fomena constituency in the Ashanti Region, Mr Andrew Amoako Asiamah says he will sit with the New Patriotic Party (NPP) side in the 8th Parliament, beginning January 7, 2021.
He made the disclosure in an interview with the Parliamentary press corps in Parliament House on Wednesday [December 16, 2020], reports Graphic Online s Parliamentary correspondent

I m part of the family [NPP] and I m going back to that family, Mr Amoako Asiamah said.
Publicly breaking his silence on which side of the next Parliament he will sit, Mr Amoako Asiamah revealed that members of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) have already reached out to him to align with them same as those from the NPP. ....

The Majority Leader and Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Mr Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu has decided to abstain from commenting on whether or not Mr Andrew Amoako Asiamah, would be entertained in Parliament for him to continue his work as the Member of Parliament for Fomena as the House reconvenes Monday, December 14, 2020.
Mr Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu’s explanation is that, “it was a directive given by the Speaker [of Parliament].” to expel Mr Amoako Asiamah from the House.
In addition to that, he says the Minority side, and specifically the Minority Leader, Mr Haruna Iddrisu on the day the Speaker gave the directive said he disagreed with the Speaker. ....

Fomena MP-elect avoiding my calls – NPP Candidate
The defeated New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate for Fomena Constituency in the just-ended elections, Phillip Ofori Asante, says several attempts to congratulate the independent Parliamentary Candidate has proven futile.
He expressed disappointment, explaining that Andrew Asiamah Amoako has been avoiding his calls after he was pronounced winner of Monday’s elections.
Philip Ofori Asante went into the Fomena parliamentary polls, which was flagged one of the firece competitions as a result of the expulsion of the incumbent MP Andrew Asiamah Amoako from Parliament and his party for going independent candidate. He eventually won with a 2,007-vote margin. ....
