Chair nadler the frequency of these killings, the absence of full accountability for those responsible sent a message to members of the Africanamerican Community that black lives do not matter. Let me state clearly for the record that black lives matter. Our criminal Justice System, including our Police Departments, cannot function without africanamericans knowing that their lives matter equally, that the system works to protect them just as it does every other citizen. We must also be able to put ourselves in the shoes of our Law Enforcement officers. Year so far. But even with the heat, this is what houston looked like today. Tons of people waiting in line in the hot sun to pay their respects to george floyd. Today was George Floyds public visitation at a church in houston, which is where mr. Floyd grew up. The line to get in the visitation, got so long, it snaked around the building and in to the parking lot. There were 200 people in line before the doors opened. Those red tents there. That is the red cross. It was so hot, they were handing out water to people waiting in line. Because they were worried about peoples health. They were worried about heat stroke. Mourners turned up to pay their respects today. This had their temperatures checked at the door. They only let small handfuls of people in to the church at a time to encourage social distancing.
