Voxelated three-dimensional miniature magnetic soft machines via multimaterial heterogeneous assembly

Science for just $15 USD.
Abstract
Small-scale soft-bodied machines that respond to externally applied magnetic field have attracted wide research interest because of their unique capabilities and promising potential in a variety of fields, especially for biomedical applications. When the size of such machines approach the sub-millimeter scale, their designs and functionalities are severely constrained by the available fabrication methods, which only work with limited materials, geometries, and magnetization profiles. To free such constraints, here, we propose a bottom-up assembly-based 3D microfabrication approach to create complex 3D miniature wireless magnetic soft machines at the milli- and sub-millimeter scale with arbitrary multimaterial compositions, arbitrary 3D geometries, and arbitrary programmable 3D magnetization profiles at high spatial resolution. This approach helps us concurrently realize diverse characteristics on the machines, including programmable shape ....

New Phantom TMX High-Speed Cameras Break 75Gpx/sec with Back Side Illumination

New Phantom TMX High-Speed Cameras Break 75Gpx/sec with Back Side Illumination
March 10, 2021 By Editor
Wayne, NJ (March 2, 2021) – Vision Research, a leading manufacturer of digital high-speed imaging systems, brings the latest innovation to high-speed imaging applications with the introduction of the Phantom® TMX Series. The TMX Series features the first high-speed cameras to use back side illuminated (BSI) sensors, achieving up to 75 Gpx/sec and improving light sensitivity.
The Phantom TMX Series consists of two models, TMX 7510 and TMX 6410, designed to provide true high-speed performance. TMX 7510 achieves 76,000 frames per second (fps) at full 1-Megapixel (1-Mpx) resolution of 1280 x 800, over 300,000 fps at 1280 x 192 resolution, and over 770,000 fps at smaller resolutions. With the export-controlled FAST option, TMX 7510 reaches a blistering 1.75 Million fps and 95 nanosecond (ns) minimum exposure time, eliminating motion blur. This enables precise mo ....
