The Regional Provident Fund Commissioner of Bengaluru in October 2017 passed an order directing the BBMP to deposit the amount along with interest in accordance with Section 7A of Employers’ Provident Fund & Miscellaneous Provision Act, 1952. The pourakarmikas union had filed a petition seeking implementation of the order while the BBMP has challenged it.
