NEWCOMERSTOWN Mayor Pat Cadle said the village has been making plans for a boat ramp to be installed on the southside along the Tuscarawas River at the former Simonds factory site.
“We have been working with engineers on the boat ramp project,” Mayor Cadle reported recently. “The spring weather will have the greatest effect on how quickly anything gets done. The snow melt helps, but not if we get too much rain. The trees have to be out by April 1 by ODNR‘s rules due to a bat that nests in river trees in the spring. The street department (Bob Shepherd) will be removing about 100 feet of heavy brush along the river to complete the river path walk. The initial path will just be an oval along the river, the elevated road between the two former lagoons and back to the ramp where there will be parking.”
