A Trenton woman says a city police officer assaulted her when she activated her cell phone camera to record her son’s arrest at their Liberty Street home last year.
Gloria Noemi Ramirez Caal alleges Officer Tara Dzurkoc punched and kicked her several times during the January 2020 incident, leaving her with injuries to her head, neck, back and right leg. Dzurkoc was working on a U.S. Marshals fugitive task force at the time. ....

Pedestrian killed at perilous highway crossing in Trenton, police say

: On March 10, Trenton police identified the pedestrian victim as Abraham Lopez, 49, of Hamilton.
A male pedestrian was fatally struck by a car at the Lalor Street intersection with Route 129 in Trenton Sunday evening, police said.
The incident occurred at about 6:20 p.m., Trenton police spokesman Capt. Peter Weremijenko said. The driver who struck the pedestrian remained at the scene and is cooperating with police.
Police found no evidence that speed, or drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash, which remained under investigation late Sunday, he said. ....

N.J. cop charged with misusing police database, department says

A Trenton police officer has been criminally charged with improperly accessing a law enforcement database, the city police department confirmed.
Kanifah Wood, 30, was served by the New Jersey State Police with a complaint summons on Tuesday, Feb. 2, and released pending court appearances, a city police spokesperson said. The charge is a third-degree indictable crime, or felony.
The six-year officer, who lives in Willingboro, was suspended from duty with pay pending the outcome of the investigation.
The criminal complaint against Wood says she accessed the database on Sept. 14, 2019. “The personal identifying information was knowingly or recklessly disclosed,” a State Police detective wrote in the document. ....

Trenton clerk reports 'disturbing' package to Trenton Police, mayor got one, too


TRENTON — Someone apparently got more than a stocking full of coal for Christmas.
City clerk Matthew Conlon reported to Trenton Police on Tuesday that his office received a disturbing package addressed to council.
Mayor Reed Gusciora and a
Trentonian reporter received similar packages Tuesday.

The Trentonian spoke to the woman who sent the packages late Tuesday night, and she confirmed they were meant as an innocent holiday prank.
If they can find me, they can put me in jail,  Gerri Guadagno said when informed that Trenton officials turned over the packages to the cops. 
The packages were sent from a Ewing return address that came back to Guadagno, property records show. ....
