The St. Charles Plan Commission is recommending approval of a planned unit development, or PUD, change to allow for a new grocer to construct a 20-foot free-standing sign at the former Blue Goose Market location.
Although residents living adjacent to a proposed apartment building near the Fox River in St. Charles are happy the building has been scaled back, they continue to voice concerns the complex will create additional parking and traffic problems in their neighborhood.
Over the objections of neighboring residents, the St. Charles Plan Commission voted 5-3 on Tuesday to recommend approval of plans for a five-story building proposed near the Fox River in downtown St. Charles that would house one and two-bedroom apartments along with retail space.

After a developer decided last fall not to proceed with building a residential subdivision northeast of Charlestowne Mall in St. Charles, another developer has stepped forward and presented a concept plan for townhouses and duplexes.
Representatives from D.R. Horton appeared before the St. Charles plan commission on Tuesday with the idea of building Charlestowne Lakes on a 28.54-acre plot known as the Oliver-Hoffman property because of the development company that owned the land when the city annexed it in 1991.
