coming up in the next hour and 15 minutes we will hear from authors about this gateway city to the black hills. located in the western part of the state. we will take it to the state game lodge. he spent his summer vacation in 1927. then, in about 15 minutes the story of life inside an indian mission boarding school. as he talks about his first book children left behind. we visit downtown rapid city for a look at the correction of life-size statues. we begin our special feature with the story of calvin coolidge in the black hills. we are here in south dakota s black hills. and we are at the state game lodge. it was constructed several years before calvin coolidge made his summer lake house in 1927. with the first lady stayed here for nearly three months from june through september 1927 while they were on vacation. they took office in 1923 when he was vice president with warren harvey. they served out the last little bit of the term. and he was elected to his own term in 192

military regimen and get his troops to cuba and it was his force of will to get him to that spot where he created the iconic moment in 1888. he was not a regular army. he was not. did he operate independently? yes, he certainly had an independent spirit in his own way of doing things but didn t have a commanding officer interest part of the core, they did have their marching orders as to what their role would be but he took on additional roles and a lot of credit for that, to roosevelt. where is that phil? it s in cuba just outside of the east side. why was it significant? one of the spanish fleet was held up in the harbor and the u.s. navy wanted to force that fleet out of there and destroy it, make combat and they thought the best way to do that was to send a plan forced. once he was taken, the fleet would be honorable. it was destroyed by the u.s. navy. why was the u.s. military in cuba in 1898? it can be complicated. and at times not so complicated but
