Brookline outdoor mask mandate will remain until May 21

If you’re planning to spend some time outdoors in Brookline, you’ll want to hang on to your mask a little longer.
While Massachusetts last week loosened its rules for outdoor mask wearing, town Health Commissioner Dr. Swannie Jett said Wednesday he wants to wait two more weeks before relaxing Brookline’s outdoor mask mandate.
In an Advisory Council for Public Health meeting on Zoom, Jett gave a target date of May 21. The delay, he said, is to give town leaders time to prepare messaging and educate the public.
“We have to communicate the message beyond who’s on the Zoom call,” he said. “And to do that effectively, you don t do that immediately.” ....
