contribute to our country and a paycheck. employers added a measly net gain of 54,000 jobs in may. that is abominable. the fewest we have seen in eight months time and more importantly with that, the jobless rate kicked back up to 9.1%. when you consider the 800,000 americans who have simply given up looking the nearly 9 million settling for part-time gigs and 40% of college graduates taking jobs that don t even require a college degree. unemployment at 20%. nearly 14 million americans are currently out of work or underworked. about half of them getting unemployment benefits for at least seven months. meanwhile, the american economy needs to add 365,000 private sector jobs every month for years to simply get the unemployment rate back down to prefinancial crisis levels. something healthy, like 6%. the last time we came into close to that number was 13 months ago when thousands of temporary census works were the hire. but our jobs crisis, as bad as it is, is truly just a sympt
